Mr. Jay Shah has presented a challenge in the Bombay High Court against the Circular issued on June 1, 2021, by The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization. The circular mandates the submission of ECR (‘Electronic Challan-cum-Return’) under section 142 of the Social Security Code, emphasizing the mandatory filing of ECR with Aadhar-validated UANs for all employers. This compulsion has resulted in employers facing difficulties in making their contributions to the authority.
